Meet Dr. Clayton Deighan

Candidate for Wooster City School Board

Hi, my name is Dr. Clayton Deighan. I am a proud alumni of Wooster City Schools and a Wooster High School graduate. I am married to my high-school sweetheart, Jennifer, who went to Wooster City Schools her entire life and is also a WHS graduate. We have two beautiful children who are our pride and joy. I completed my undergraduate degree at Miami University of Ohio in Chemical Engineering, and then received my master’s and PhD in Chemical Engineering from The Ohio State University. I owe so much to the public education system and am ready to give back to help the next generation of learners carve their own path.  After finishing my PhD we moved to California to start my career in biotechnology, where my public education prepared me well for the real world. In the first decade of my career I’ve spent time working with major biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies around the world to provide high-tech solutions to their scientific problems. My experiences include working at both a large (publicly traded) business, a full start up- from commercial launch to acquisition, and now I currently manage a team of scientists that focuses on providing cutting edge scientific instrumentation and capabilities to drug developers. We decided to move back to Wooster in 2022 to raise our growing family as Wooster is a very special place to us! We are proud to say we are raising 3rd generation Wooster Generals here in our hometown.
